Well… That Didn’t Quite Go to Plan!

Racehorse ownership is full of highs, lows and, occasionally, moments that leave you wondering what on earth just happened.

Hellcat was due to line up in the 4:40pm at Thirsk on Friday, ridden by Alexandra Egan. She travelled to the racecourse well, looked fantastic and everything appeared to be going exactly to plan.

Then Hellcat decided she had other ideas.

On the way to the start, she took herself for an unscheduled tour of Thirsk Racecourse. Thankfully, she was caught safely, but having already completed rather more running than intended, the correct decision was made to withdraw her from the race.

It was disappointing for everyone who had travelled to see her, but the welfare of Hellcat and her jockey will always come first.

Don’t be fooled by Hellcat’s sweet nature and beautiful face - she is an independent, intelligent and undeniably sassy filly who certainly knows her own mind.

That personality is exactly why we love her.

Racehorse ownership does not always go according to plan. Sometimes you celebrate a winner, sometimes you learn something new about your horse and sometimes your horse creates her own race before the official one has even started.
