HELLCAT
Mayson x Vixen | 2023 Filly | In Training with Ross Burdon
Hellcat has now raced four times for Vesper Solis Racing, gaining valuable experience and continuing to develop with each appearance.
A sharp, athletic filly with natural speed, she has shown that she possesses the ability and attitude needed to be competitive. Her races have also helped Ross and the team learn more about her, how she travels, where she is most comfortable and what she needs to produce her best performance.
She remains a young filly who is learning her trade, and her programme will continue to be shaped around patience, confidence and finding the right opportunities.
Four runs completed. More chapters still to come.

The Filly

Hellcat is a chestnut filly by Mayson out of the Kodiac mare Vixen, bred from a family associated with speed, toughness and competitive sprinting ability.
Since joining Vesper Solis Racing, she has now raced four times and has continued to gain important experience on the racecourse. She has demonstrated natural pace and has shown that, when circumstances suit, she is capable of travelling strongly and becoming involved in her races.
Like many young racehorses, she is still learning how to put everything together. Each run has helped build her confidence and racecraft while giving the team a clearer understanding of the conditions, distance and race setup likely to suit her best.
There is more to come from Hellcat, and the focus remains on helping her produce that ability consistently.
The Pedigree
Hellcat is by July Cup winner Mayson, a proven source of fast, durable and genuine racehorses.
Mayson’s progeny are widely associated with speed, toughness and the ability to remain competitive across multiple seasons. Those qualities are evident in Hellcat’s athletic build, natural pace and willingness in her work.
Her dam, Vixen, is a winner by influential speed sire Kodiac and comes from a strong female family containing durable winners and black-type performers.
Together, the pedigree provides Hellcat with a strong foundation for sprinting—combining speed from both sides of the family with the toughness needed to continue developing through racing.

Our Approach

Hellcat’s first four runs for Vesper Solis Racing have formed an important part of her education.
They have allowed her to gain experience in different race situations while giving Ross and the team valuable information about how best to place her. The emphasis now is not simply on running frequently, but on choosing races that give her the best opportunity to travel comfortably, build confidence and show her ability.
At Vesper Solis Racing, we understand that progress is not always measured solely by a finishing position. Young horses develop at different rates, and the lessons gained from each race help shape the next decision.
Hellcat will continue to be managed patiently, transparently and with her long-term interests at the centre of every plan.
