NIGHTSPELL
Kameko x Magic Meg | 2024 Filly | In Training with Ross Burdon
Nightspell made an encouraging start to her racing career when finishing fourth on her debut at Lingfield.
Since then, she has continued to gain valuable racecourse experience, with each outing helping Ross and the team understand more about her ability, temperament and the conditions most likely to suit her.
She remains a young filly with plenty of growing and learning ahead, and her programme will continue to be shaped around patience, confidence and finding the right opportunities.
Patiently developed. Her journey continues.

The Filly
Nightspell is a well-balanced filly by Kameko out of Magic Meg, bred with the scope, temperament and athleticism to progress as she matures.
Since joining Ross Burdon in Newmarket, she has been allowed to develop steadily. Her early programme focused on building strength, confidence and a proper understanding of her work before introducing her to the racecourse.
That patience was rewarded when she made her debut at Lingfield. Despite everything being new to her, Nightspell approached the experience calmly and professionally.
She raced in midfield before making some late headway to finish fourth, showing enough to suggest that she can move forward as she becomes stronger and more experienced.
The Pedigree
Nightspell is by Kameko, the record-breaking 2,000 Guineas winner whose progeny are showing speed, athleticism and the scope to improve with experience.
Her dam, Magic Meg, adds further depth to the pedigree, while the wider family includes successful performers across a range of distances.
Her pedigree has always suggested a filly who could become stronger and more effective with time. That remains central to the way her career will be managed.
The aim is not simply to rush from one race to the next, but to give her the opportunity to develop into the best racehorse she can become.

Our Approach
Nightspell’s preparation has always been built around patience.
Her first months in training were about education, physical development and confidence. Her debut represented the next stage of that process rather than the finished product.
At Vesper Solis Racing, we believe owners should experience the entire journey—not only race days, but the preparation, decisions and gradual development behind them.
Our members have followed Nightspell from her earliest work through to her first appearance on the racecourse. They will now continue to share in every step as she gains experience and moves forward.
Training with patience. Progress with purpose.

Her Racing Journey

Nightspell made her racecourse debut in the Hamways EBF Restricted Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Lingfield on 15 July 2026.
Ridden by Jack Mitchell, she travelled in midfield and stayed on in the closing stages to finish fourth of seven.
As with any young horse having her first start, the day was primarily about education. She experienced the racecourse environment, starting stalls, race pace and everything that comes with competing for the first time.
It was an encouraging beginning and one from which both Nightspell and the team can learn.
Her development will continue to be guided by how she progresses at home, with every decision made around what is right for her.
